Huernia sudanensis Plowes   

DESCRIPTION: Stems 5–7 cm tall, 4 or 5 angled on the same plant, greyish-green with purple mottling, tubercles laterally flattened except when very turgid, teeth long and slender, horizontal. Up to 3 flowers are borne in succession from the same site; pedicels 10 mm; sepals very slender, 8 mm; corolla exterior varies from plain pale greenish-cream to well spotted with purple at type locality, minutely scabrid, veins prominent; corolla campanulate, about 22–25 mm diam., pinkish to yellowish cream, with broken concentric maroon stripes of varying length, thickness, and intensity of colour, and a narrow line of dark maroon around the edges of the lobes; papillae pale, translucent and conical.
